This ancient form of Chinese medicine goes back some 5000 years and is now widely accepted and respected in the western world.

The Acu Medic  Review reflects current thinking by stating that “90% of British doctors would recommend acupuncture to their patients”.

My fascination with acupuncture started some 30 years ago way before I trained as a physiotherapist when  I was a witness to the pain relief effects it had on a military patient.  I completed my foundation training in Acupuncture in February 1999 and have continued further studies and training ever since.

I  amacupuncture sheffield a member of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP). I am also registered by Sheffield City Council to conduct Acupuncture at Physio For Fitness Limited  practice.

My use of acupuncture is for acute or chronic pain

An estimated 95% of my patients find acupuncture a very effective method of pain relief. Used independently or in conjunction with my years of physiotherapy and rehabilitation experience, I find this a very effective treatment  option.

How safe is acupuncture?

We work under strict hygiene guidelines. We use the finest individually packed sterile needles for every treatment.  These needles are used for a single treatment and are NEVER RE-USED. Again a quote from Acu Medic Review journal. “The house of Lords select committee praised Acupuncture for its proven efficiency and safety record and recommended acupuncture inclusion as an NHS treatment”.

Is acupuncture painful?

Without looking, most people would not know that the acupuncture needle has pierced their skin. The needles are so fine and the speed of entry so quick that most points of entry  will be pain free.

How long is an acupuncture treatment?

My treatments with acupuncture lasts from 20 – 30 minutes. Often patients fall asleep – or just forget the needles are in while they listen to the music.

This is just one of many choices of treatment available

Acupuncture is just one of many options and my experienced judgment will be used to select the best treatment to address your problem.  If you have a needle phobia, acupuncture wll probably not be selected as a treatment modality. However, the evidence shows that many patients who are initially fearful/doubtful about the value of acupuncture, are frequently surprised at its effectiveness.

Don’t suffer in silence with that pain that you are hoping will go away. Pain killers often just mask the pain and under-lying symptoms.

Give us a call at Physio For Fitness Ltd and we can advise you on the use of acupuncture and determine the best treatment to relieve your pain.
